Steve is a Certified Educational Planner, endorsed by the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners (AICEP). He is Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Sterling College Consultants. Since 1999, he has researched and developed his innovative approach to advising and directing students and parents through the college admission and financial aid processes. He works directly with multitudes of college-bound high school students and their parents every year; additionally, for the past 32 years he has instructed and mentored college students at the university and community college levels. He is the author of two guides on college admissions, Sterling's College Admission Survival Guide for Juniors and Sterling's College Admission Survival Guide for Seniors.

Dottie is Co-founder and the CEO of Sterling College Consultants. For the past 18 years she has actively mentored, guided, and personally directed hundreds of high school students and parents through the college admission process. She is familiar with the culture, academic emphasis, and reputation of hundreds of the most popular and prestigious colleges and universities across the United States. Her knowledge and continuous research ensures college-bound students attend the four-year school that best suits their needs. Since 1992, she has been a student mentor, counselor and instructional aid; she has created more than 350 mentoring relationships between volunteer adults and at-risk students. Steve continues to research and apply the latest developments in college admission and financial aid; his most pertinent findings are posted on his Twitter account: CollegeCalendar. He is a frequent keynote speaker at college admission-related events on the West Coast and has been profiled by numerous publications, as well as appeared on a variety of media organizations. Steve is an active member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC). Steve earned his Master's Degree in Science from California State University, Northridge, and his Master's Degree in Business from California Lutheran University.
